The best time to visit Jaisalmer Fort is from October to March, when the weather is generally more comfortable for sightseeing. Rajasthan Tourism considers winter the best season for exploring the state because daytime temperatures are pleasant compared with the intense summer heat.
October to March: This is the ideal period for exploring the fort, walking through the old city and combining the visit with desert activities.
April to June: Summer can be extremely hot in Rajasthan, so outdoor sightseeing during the middle of the day can be uncomfortable. Early morning or late afternoon is a better choice.
July to September: Monsoon brings comparatively lower temperatures, although Jaisalmer remains part of the dry western region of Rajasthan. This period can be useful for travellers looking for fewer crowds.
For the best experience, plan your fort visit during the morning or late afternoon. The evening light is particularly attractive as the golden sandstone takes on deeper shades.

By Air: Jaisalmer has a civil airport with direct air connectivity from cities including Jaipur, Delhi, Mumbai, Bengaluru and Surat, although flight schedules can vary by season.
By Train: Jaisalmer is connected by rail with Delhi and other major cities, with direct train services available on selected routes. The railway station is a convenient option for travellers arriving from other parts of Rajasthan and northern India.
By Road: Jaisalmer is well connected by road with Jodhpur, Bikaner and Jaipur. Travellers can reach the city by bus, taxi or private car. A car with a driver is a comfortable option if Jaisalmer Fort is part of a longer Rajasthan itinerary.
